At a truly starry, starry night, Darcey Bussell, principal dancer and judge of BCC’s Strictly Come Dancing, was guest of honour at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour to switch on the Christmas lights.
‘It’s such an inspirational place to come to,’ said Darcey. ‘I have always been a big fan of the creative world, and I’m very happy to add to this festive occasion’.
Darcey was welcomed onto the stage by students from her old school, Royal Ballet School. Then, with the support of a huge crowd the spectacular glass domes of London’s premier design centre were illuminated by a galaxy of glowing stars.
Now in its fifth year, the event is an annual tradition and was attended by top designers as well as high profile stylesetters. They enjoyed festive fizz, hot chocolate, doughnuts, star treats and marshmallows from a snow wall. Ethereal stilt-walkers walked beneath the constellation of twinkling lights while smooth harmonies from the Rat Pack provided seasonal good cheer.
Visitors can walk beneath the constellation of twinkling lights until the New Year.
